QBO: Fix the Exported Balance Sheet in Excel (Required)

QuickBooks Online exports Balance Sheets in a way that BizVisualizer can’t reliably import until you do a quick “paste values” step in Excel.

warning

Because of an error in the way QBO exports balance sheet reports to Excel, this is a required step.
You do not need to do this for any Profit & Loss exports.

Step 1: Open your exported Balance Sheet in Excel

Open the Excel file you just downloaded from QBO.

Step 2: Select the data area (not the header)

  1. Click somewhere inside the main data area (not the top header rows)
  2. Press Ctrl + A to highlight the full dataset
tip

If you press Ctrl + A while your cursor is in the header area, Excel may only select the header. Make sure the entire report grid is highlighted.

Step 3: Copy and paste values (on top of itself)

  1. Copy: Ctrl + C
  2. Paste values:
    • Ctrl + Shift + V (if enabled), or
    • Home → Paste → Values

Nothing may appear to change—that’s normal.

Step 4: Save the file

Save the file (you can overwrite the original export). Your Balance Sheet is now ready to upload into BizVisualizer.
